南加州大學(xué)Viterbi工程學(xué)院土木/環(huán)境工程和工業(yè)及系統(tǒng)工程的教授。他是Jefferson科學(xué)研究員以及美國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)卿科學(xué)技術(shù)顧問(wèn)辦公室的科學(xué)和技術(shù)資深顧問(wèn)(20092010)。Meshkati博士為眾多國(guó)內(nèi)和國(guó)際技術(shù)組織就航空(和其他四種運(yùn)輸模式)、石油化工以及核安全的設(shè)計(jì)、評(píng)估、人為因素和安全文化相關(guān)的議題提供咨詢(xún)。在2007年他從人因工程學(xué)會(huì)(Human Factors and Ergonomics Society)獲得了Oliver Keith Hansen推廣獎(jiǎng),為他在“人為因素對(duì)于復(fù)雜、大型技術(shù)系統(tǒng)的影響和對(duì)于推廣關(guān)于關(guān)鍵人為因素和其對(duì)人類(lèi)帶來(lái)的好處的公共認(rèn)知所做出的貢獻(xiàn)”,Meshkati博士是唯一的持續(xù)在人為因素和航空器安全領(lǐng)域(如:機(jī)艙設(shè)計(jì)、飛行員失誤和侵入跑道等)進(jìn)行研究的全職USC教授。他同時(shí)在USC國(guó)際知名的擁有60年歷史的航空器安全項(xiàng)目教授了20年。他是國(guó)家工程院/國(guó)家研究委員會(huì)就評(píng)估英國(guó)石油公司深水平臺(tái)爆炸、火災(zāi)和原油泄漏所成立的委員會(huì)的一員。這個(gè)委員會(huì)負(fù)責(zé)采取措施以防類(lèi)似事件在未來(lái)發(fā)生。
Dr. Najmedin (Najm) Meshkati is Professor of Civil/Environmental Engineering and Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. He was a Jefferson Science Fellow and Senior Science and Engineering Advisor, Office of Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State (20092010). Dr. Meshkati has consulted for many domestic and international technological organizations on aviation (and other four modes of transportation), petrochemical, and nuclear safety? design, evaluation, human factors, and safety culture related matters. He is the 2007 recipient of the Oliver Keith Hansen Outreach Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) and was honored by the HFES for his “scholarly efforts on human factors of complex, large scale technological systems...[and] efforts to enhance public awareness of critical human factors issue [and] the benefits it brings to humankind.” Dr. Meshkati is the only fulltime USC faculty member who has continuously been conducting research on human factors and aviation safety related issues (e.g., cockpit design, pilot error, and runway incursions) and teaching in the USC 60year old internationally renowned Aviation Safety and Security Program, for the past twenty two years. He was also a member of the National Academy of Engineering/National Research Council’s Committee on the Analysis of Causes of the BP Deepwater Horizon Explosion.
